User Persona

In this project, User Persona is Candice, 28 years old trendy marketeer, who sees herself as a trend-seeker and uses publications as a source of inspiration for work. The informations that are given about Candice is that she wants to be on top of the latest trends, to dress and appear fashionable. She reads online magazines whenever she has a free slot - especially in public transport, on her way to work. She likes to read Vogue, People Cosmopolitan, and Elle.

User Research

The user research focus was to get more specific insights about users interests, their reading habits, and how it would be possible to make them easier to get more personalized articles and content.

Survey Results / Key Findings

Survey results showed that the majority of online magazine readers and interested in topics about culture and fashion, with a focus on sustainable fashion. They prefer to read articles on their way to/from work, and for that they are usually using their smartphones. Users are mostly the younger population - aged between 26-34 years. They choose articles with catchy images and headlines. Most of them complained that they don’t have enough time to read all the topics they found, because of lack of time, and later they find it difficult to search for them again, and its also time-consuming

Visual Competitor Analysis

Competitor analysis, including the visual analysis, showed that lead fashion magazines prefer a minimalist style, mostly using achromatic values. The presents of colors are reduced to a minimum, but harmony is reintegrated through the use of large and attractive images.

Problem Statement & Hypothesis Statement

Mood board

The mood board for the online magazine X-Noir presents a symbiosis of fashionable, timeless, rebellious, and unconventional, but elegant and expressive.

Style Tile

Considering all the relevant informations that were found in the research, and knowing users needs and expectations, there were enough guidelines to build the style tile that will meet all the needs of the online magazine. The point was on achromatic values: black and white, but still since it’s a magazine with a focus on fashion and culture there are enough colors to break a monotony.

User Flow

On her way to work, Candice checks the online magazine and chooses articles about sustainable fashion, neo-expressionism, and one exhibition. Since she doesn't have time to read them all now, she saves them in her collection, as she wants to look them up again later.
